Hi

As you are aware ethanol fuel is a major issue for all of us in the hobby. There is a petition for consideration at the Federal level however the provincial Government of BC has control over the details of how it is administered here.

We are asking you to mail or e mail a letter to Minister Osborne expressing your concern and resolution as covered in the letter. Attached is a sample letter, that can be copied signed and mailed or

e mailed.

Of course, if you wish send a message in your own words.

Here is all the contact info for the Minister:

To: Josie Osborne,

Minister of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation

Dear Minister,

I am the owner of a classic car and the lack of availability of ethanol free fuel has the potential of destroying the Classic Car hobby which I and thousands of others love.

Ethanol destroys the fuel systems in classic cars, it absorbs water causing rust, it deteriorates rubber and aluminum causing leaks and potential fires. The ethanol blended fuels start to separate in as little as ten to fourteen days and cannot be reblended once separated. This causes serious problems with winter storage.

Under the collector plate program ICBC does not allow modifications from stock to address this problem. According to ICBC it would take an order in council to change this. These are just some of the problems we are facing with ethanol at its current levels.

According to your ministries website the plan is to continue to raise the percentage of ethanol every year till 2030. According to industry experts 15% ethanol is the maximum percentage that pre 2000 fuel injection vehicles were designed to accommodate. Your website states that the ethanol percentage for 2024 is going to be 16%.

Your ministry has put me in an untenable position. I respectfully request that you allow one grade of premium fuel to be sold ethanol free in British Columbia. Until July of last year this option was available from Chevron, Shell, and Co-op.

The classic car hobby has come together to voice our concerns over this issue and my voice is but one of many your ministry will hear from.

I look forward to a positive outcome to this serious problem.

Yours truly,
